Meet Dr. Dionne Vernon

Dr. Dionne Vernon has tailored her life’s work at the intersection of liberal arts and sciences. She is a physical therapist and movement specialist who has worked with elite level athletes in both the professional sports and performing arts arenas. Her clientele list ranges from the everyday individual to professional dancers, singers, and actors of Broadway, dance companies, TV & film, and spreads as far as both collegiate and Olympic sports. Dionne’s passion for improving the lives of others can be seen through how closely she works with her patients to help them recover and heal from their injuries.

Dionne gained extensive experience as the head resident therapist for Disney’s The Lion King touring company for five years and then later moved to New York City to continue her work on Broadway. Through the companies of Neurotour Physical Therapy and PhysioArts Physical Therapy, she was given the opportunity to work on Broadway productions such as Hamilton, The Lion King, Mean Girls, Wicked, Fela!, Cats, and Anastasia (just to name a few).

In 2018, Dionne founded her company, Healing Compass Wellness Group, LLC, and had the pleasure of working closely with the touring cast of the Classic Cher Tour in Washington, DC during the summer of the same year.

Dionne's passion for in sports medicine, the arts, and leadership led her to work with Olympic athletes in China, providing rehabilitation, preventive care, & onsite services for World Championships, international competitions, and preparations for the 2021 Tokyo Summer Olympics.

Dionne holds a doctoral degree from Washington University in St. Louis (ranked the number one physical therapy school in the country). She is a published author in peer-reviewed journals, a Certified KinesioTape practitioner, and a behavioral change specialist. When it comes to understanding recovery and the individual beyond the injury, Dionne is the one you want in your corner.

When not doing clinical work, Dionne provides workshop programs as a keynote and motivational speaker to inspire and empower her audiences. During her down time, you’ll find Dionne spending time with her family and friends, working out at the gym, being musical, and exploring the great outdoors.
