No Smarter Than You, It's All in a Mindset

Society has a fascinating way of showing us what is ideal to achieve, but covertly teaches us we are not worthy of such things. Be outstanding, but don’t outshine others. Be great, but not too great. Speak up for yourself, but know your place.

It’s downright confusing. To be forthright, it truly is an attack or a double entendre on the word “potential”. It’s okay to have, but not to actualize.

The problem with this duality is, it subconsciously teaches us to sabotage our own value. It diminishes our worth. Teaching us to operate from a place of lack, instead of from abundance. Secretly celebrating our acceptance to its deceit.

But I would like to offer a different standard. A challenge, if you will.

What if rejection was protection? What if delay was not a denial? What if the new normal was that “life happened for us and not to us?” I wonder what would happen if we thought with this mindset.

I believe it would change the paradigm from which we stand and maneuver.

This shift would move us out from a victim mentality into one of courage. Guiding us from a place of lack into a path of possibilities, from a focus on problems to solutions, and from weakness into strength.

You see a victim with a defeatist mindset stays stuck, but a victim or a victor with a champion mindset, one that sees possibilities despite circumstance, advances every time. Change your mindset, change your life. (It’s the best kept secret).

I love the quote that says, “creativity begets creativity; the more you use it, the more you will have”. It is true. Creativity is manifested when we can see challenges as opportunities.

To access creativity, is to see possibility. Possibility emboldens potential. Living out our potential comes from us existing in a mental space where we operate with an attitude of abundance. Not the inadequacy or “don’t expect too much” mentality that society enjoys to teach.

The catalyst to achieve one’s potential means to function from a mindset that sees all circumstances as a conspiracy toward our own good. It’s the audacity of hope, the courage to believe.

From this vantage point, we exist with value, not insignificance. This “life happens for you, not to you” perspective that Tony Robbins so brilliantly teaches, is a powerful mental shift.

Mental fortitude is simply the ability to look past the current commotion and see a contrasting outcome.  A breath…a pause…a look to reflect and observe beyond a fading moment to grab ahold of the rising anew.

Creativity lives here. Self-actualization is found here. It all starts with... a mindset.

“Everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you.” ~Steve Jobs
